Bayern are enhancing its sports events with the installation of a cutting-edge video glass floor at BMW Park, providing advanced features like live stats display and reducing injury risks for players.
BMW Park is set to enhance its sports events, including basketball games, with a groundbreaking addition: a permanently installed video glass floor.
FC Bayern Munich officially announced that installation has already begun, and training sessions are underway on the new court. The necessary approval from authorities is expected soon.
The partnership with ASB GlassFloor is valid until 2030.
"I really liked the video floor at the opening game last year, it was a really cool experience. Back then, I said I could get used to it," Andreas Obst told the official club website.
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens had previously announced that they would be the first EuroLeague team to play on this innovative LED glass floor at the OAKA Arena next season.
This revolutionary glass floor, approved by FIBA and incorporated into its regulations in 2022, offers numerous benefits. It can be used for advertising campaigns and various sports and eliminates the need for traditional court stickers, reducing the risk of player injuries.
Additionally, the floor features player-tracking capabilities, allowing live stats and athletic achievements to be displayed directly on the surface.
The glass floor made its basketball debut at the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in the summer of 2023 at WiZink Center, Madrid. It was also featured during the NBA All-Star Weekend 2024 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indiana, and the Basketball Champions League (BCL) Final Four at Stark Arena, Belgrade.
