Justin Bean will miss the next three months of action for ALBA Berlin, as he broke his wrist during the BBL game against Bamberg. The American forward collided with an opponent player in a layup attempt.
ALBA Berlin suffered their fourth defeat in six Basketball Bundesliga games, succumbing to Bamberg 82-87 in front of 5,117 spectators on Sunday evening.
Martin Hermannsson scored 28 and Louis Olinde added 15 points for the German outfit, but -- apart from Malte Delow (concussion) and Jonas Mattisseck (back), coach Israel Gonzalez also saw Justin Bean break his wrist.
The 27-year-old forward, who scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in the contest, is expected to be sidelined for the next three months, the club announced.
ALBA Berlin / Schedule
Bean joined ALBA last year and is averaging 5.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in his team's EuroLeague endeavors.
The injury happened midway through the third quarter, when Bamberg's Filip Stanic (who played for ALBA until 2017) and Bean collided while ALBA's player was airborne and attempting a layup. Stanic (115 kg) came flying in and met Bean (95 kg) mid-air.
Bean landed heavily on his left hand, and lay there with a face contorted in pain, holding his joint.
"That was our fourth game in a week. And now we've lost another player. It's crazy," ALBA's captain Martin Hermannsson explained afterwards.
"I'm not happy with a lot of things. How we play, for large parts of the game. And then there's a lack of focus. I'm extremely pissed off at the moment," the Icelander admitted.
