The Cape Verdean center helped Real Madrid snatch a big win after double overtime (97-90), which was the sixth for his team this season.
Tavares recorded 24 points and 18 rebounds, to which he added a pair of blocks, a steal and one assist for a PIR of 39. Thus, Tavares became the first Real Madrid player this year to win the accolade, and also the only one to record such a high PIR.
