Domantas Sabonis has been named the best Lithuanian basketball player of the year. Behind the Sacramento Kings' center were Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Jonas Valanciunas.
The annual Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) awards for the best basketball players of the year have concluded, with Domantas Sabonis taking the top honors.
The selection of the best Lithuanian male and female basketball players was held for the 17th time, with Sabonis being named the best male player for the fifth time in his career. He previously won the award in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022.
Sabonis secured an impressive victory, collecting nearly 27% of the votes. Mindaugas Kuzminskas came in second with 11.75%, narrowly edging out Jonas Valanciunas, who received 11.69%.
Matas Buzelis ranked fourth with 8.83%, while 3x3 basketball player Aurelijus Pukelis rounded out the top five with 7.67%.
In the 2023-24 NBA season, Sabonis has been delivering great performances for the Sacramento Kings.
During the regular season, he averaged 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds (No. 1 in NBA), and 8.2 assists per game.
Meanwhile, in the 2024-25 campaign, his averages stand at 20.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
