The 2025 Copa del Rey Basketball tournament features eight teams competing in a knockout format, with Real Madrid aiming to defend their title in Las Palmas.
The EuroLeague is taking a brief break from basketball, and all eyes are now on domestic cups, with the Copa del Rey Basketball, or Spanish Basketball Cup, taking center stage.
In just a few days, teams will battle for the second domestic title of the season, following the Spanish Supercup.
This year's Copa del Rey will take place in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, from February 13 to 16.
Copa del Rey basketball format
The Spanish Cup features a Final 8 tournament format, where eight teams compete in a bracket-style setup followed by knockout rounds: quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final, all played as single elimination games.
The winners of each match advance to the next round.
This year's participants include Unicaja Malaga, Joventut Badalona, Real Madrid, BAXI Manresa, Valencia Basket, Dreamland Gran Canaria, La Laguna Tenerife, and FC Barcelona.
The draw has created a scenario where a potential "El Clasico" matchup between Real Madrid and Barcelona could only happen in the final.
Real Madrid will aim to defend their title from last year, while FC Barcelona looks to reclaim the trophy they last won in 2022.
