Anthony Edwards went viral for his confident response to former President Barack Obama during Netflix’s "Court of Gold" series.
Anthony Edwards has long been known for his confident, fearless style of play, and recently, the Minnesota Timberwolves star showed that same attitude off the court, earning viral attention for his exchange with former U.S. President Barack Obama.
The moment happened during Netflix's "Court of Gold" series, which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the basketball teams preparing for the Paris Olympics last summer.
In one memorable segment, Obama is seen talking to Edwards and Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid, where the former President jokingly asks Embiid, "What do you think about this young guy? He can hoop a little bit, huh?" To which Embiid, with a smile, replies, "Just a little bit."
But Edwards, never one to back down, quickly responds with: "Nah, y'all better stand down. I’m the truth."
This bold statement from Edwards, directed at one of the most influential people in the world, had people buzzing. Some fans on social media applauded Edwards for his swagger and confidence, seeing it as a reflection of the same fearlessness that has made him one of the brightest young stars in the NBA.
While the exchange might have been humorous, it’s clear that Edwards is someone who isn’t afraid to back up his words with action, both on and off the court.
The 23-year-old averages 27.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 44% shooting from the field. Timberwolves are 7th in the NBA Western Conference with a 31-25 record.
