In a notable moment for Ukrainian sports, Maxim Alexander Klitschko, the 19-year-old son of legendary boxer Vitali Klitschko, made his debut for the Ukrainian national basketball team.

Standing at an impressive 7 feet 1 inch (216 cm), Alexander played as a center in a EuroBasket qualification game against Portugal.

Despite Ukraine's qualification campaign already being decided before the game, the debutant made the most of his minutes on the court.

Klitschko contributed 7 points in just 9 minutes of play, hitting both of his field goal attempts (2/2), along with making 3 of 4 free throws. The young prospect also recorded 2 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers, and 1 personal foul, resulting in a total efficiency rating of 16.

His performance was a bright spot in what has been a challenging qualification for Ukraine, who were already eliminated from EuroBasket contention before this match.

However, the Ukrainian team showed resilience, securing an 88-60 victory over Portugal in the game. This win, which came on the road, was their first and last in the qualification round.

Alexander, who plays for Monaco's youth team, is considered a promising talent, especially with his towering presence in the paint. His father, Vitali Klitschko, a former heavyweight boxing champion with a height of 201 cm, may be known worldwide for his boxing achievements, but his son is now making a name for himself in the basketball world.
