Bosnian center Jusuf Nurkic says they have unfinished business after failing to advance past the group phase in EuroBasket 2022, stating that their goal for 2025 is to win a medal.
Bosnia and Herzegovina are ready to make some noise in the upcoming EuroBasket 2025 after a heartbreaking finish in the last championship, where they came extremely close to advancing out of the group phase for the first time in the country's history.
Bosnia's star player and current Charlotte Hornets center, Jusuf Nurkic, is confident about their chances in the upcoming EuroBasket, stating they have unfinished business from the last tournament.
"We can do really good damage," Nurkic said in an interview with FIBA. "Obviously, we take it game by game. We want to break the curse of Bosnia and reach the Second Round. From there, we'll see, but our goal is a medal."
Nurkic shared that EuroBasket is his favorite FIBA competition, calling it the event where the best basketball is played.
"It's just been awesome," he said. "My favorite FIBA event is EuroBasket. I think it's the best basketball, with all the countries involved... there are no unknowns. I feel like everybody plays basketball. It's Europe, and it's a really great place to be."
The Hornets' big man believes the Bosnian national basketball team has shown tremendous potential and resilience in recent years, earning its place as the No. 1 team in the country.

"For sure," Nurkic said. "The people are happy with the basketball team, the way we play, and how we represent ourselves."
"I think it's our best national team, regardless of the sport. With all due respect to soccer, they took us to the World Cup in 2014, but at the end of the day, I feel like, in general, we are the most talented and the best group (among all sports teams in the country)."
"I feel like every time I step on the floor representing the people, that's the best," he concluded.
Nurkic averaged 16.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game in the last EuroBasket, helping his team beat Hungary and Slovenia, just missing out on advancing from the group stage.
