Raptors waive Ishmail Wainright, keep Sam Dekker

The Toronto Raptors will waive forward Ishmail Wainright, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet reports.

Wainright had a breakout season with SIG Strasbourg last year. The 26-year-old averaged 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 12.8 PIR over 26.5 minutes in the Basketball Champions League.

The 1.96 m American accumulated 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 13.8 PIR over 27.9 minutes in the French LNB Pro A League.

The Raptors also retained forward Sam Dekker. He played two seasons in Houston, followed by two with the Los Angeles Clippers before dividing the 2018-19 season between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards.

In 200 career NBA games (eight starts), Dekker has averages of 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.8 assists.

He spent the past two seasons abroad, splitting time between the VTB United League in Russia and the Turkish Super League.
