Mavericks PG Trey Burke enters COVID protocol

Dallas Mavericks reserve point guard Trey Burke has entered the league's health and safety protocol and will miss Tuesday night's game against the visiting Los Angeles Lakers.

Burke joins fellow reserve Sterling Brown in the protocol.

It's Burke's fourth stint in the protocol this season, including when he contracted COVID-19 in December.

Burke, 29, is averaging 5.3 points, 1.3 assists and 10.7 minutes per game in 39 contests (zero starts) this season, his second full season in Dallas. He appeared in eight games for the Mavs in the 2019-20 season.

Burke also played 25 games for the Mavs in the 2018-19 season. He was part of the trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. to Dallas.
