Giorgos Bartzokas took over the Reds for the first time in the 2012-13 season and  managed to lead the team to a back-to-back EuroLeague title in London. He stayed on his favorite team's bench until the start of the 2014-15 season when he resigned following a loss to Panathinaikos OPAP Athens in the Greek Cup quarter-finals.

From 2015 through 2020, he coached Lokomotiv Kuban, FC Barcelona and Khimki, before returning to Olympiakos in January 2020 where he remains until this day. His second term with the Greek powerhouse is expected to last at least five and a half years, when his new contract is completed in 2025.
