Team captain Nihad Djedovic split ways with FC Bayern Munich, as the club officially announced. He has been a member of the squad since 2013.
The 32-year-old is heading to Unicaja Malaga on a two-year deal, BasketNews sources confirmed.
"In professional sports, not all plans always come true. The club and I agreed that it was the best time for both sides to go separate ways. The ACB is the most attractive league in Europe and I feel honored to continue my career with one of the powerhouses.
It's going to be a great challenge. I'm also happy because I started my career in Spain and my parents live there. But that won't change the fact that Munich is and will remain my home and I feel like a family member at FC Bayern. There were incredible nine seasons in the red and white jersey, a path with many ups and downs, with everything that an athlete can experience. This is not a farewell for me, I just say: Goodbye!"
Djedovic played a record-breaking club number of 291 games in the German league. In total, he scored 3,244 points in the Basketball Bundesliga, averaging 11.1 points a match.
In the EuroLeague, the Bosnian athlete made 115 appearances on the court and posted an average of 8.6 points per game.
He registered 1.5 points, 1.0 rebound, and 0.7 PIR over 19 EuroLeague duels (8 minutes) this past season.
During his long tenure in Munich, Nihad Djedovic won three German championships (2014, 2018, 2019) and two German Cups (2013, 2018).
