14-year NBA veteran and 2011 champion J.J. Barea begins his head coaching career.
According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Barea agreed to a deal with the Guaynabo Mets in the Puerto Rican Professional Basketball League.
The 39-year-old is a native of Puerto Rico, and it will be his first experience as a coach in his homeland.
Throughout his career, Barea played for the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. He has career averages of 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in 831 appearances.
