Kyle Lowry fulfills his hometown dream as he agrees to a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, clearing the path for a $2.8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Charlotte Hornets guard Kyle Lowry has reached an agreement on a contract buyout, paving the way for him to join the Philadelphia 76ers for the remainder of the season, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
According to the same report, Lowry is set to ink a $2.8 million deal with the Sixers upon clearing waivers in the upcoming days.
A six-time All-Star guard, Lowry has harbored a longstanding desire to play for his hometown 76ers. The Cardinal Dougherty High School and Villanova University alumnus will now have the opportunity to play alongside his former coach, Nick Nurse.
Lowry had recently joined the Hornets from the Miami Heat as part of the Terry Rozier trade last month.
