Whiteside is best known for his years with the Miami Heat, where he was named to the All-NBA Second Defensive Team in 2016 and was third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Statistically, his best season came in 2016-17 when he was averaging 17 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.
The big man led the NBA in blocks twice: first, in 2015-16 with 3.7 blocks per game, and later in 2019-20 with 2.9 blocks per game.
