Cleveland Cavaliers starting forward Evan Mobley is facing another extended absence due to a sprained left ankle, sustained during a win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, as reported by The Athletic.

The official timeline for Mobley's return is pending, with significant swelling needing to subside. However, The Athletic's sources suggest that it will be a considerable amount of time before he can hit the court again.

The injury occurred during a successful dunk in the third quarter, with 5:29 left, in the Cavs' impressive comeback victory over the Celtics, overcoming a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Teammate Sam Merrill committed a foul to facilitate Mobley's exit from the game after the ankle injury, and Mobley was escorted back to the locker room. Leaving Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on crutches, he was subsequently ruled out for the team's game in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Mobley previously returned from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee performed in mid-December, which had kept him sidelined for six weeks.

This season, he has been a key player for the Cavaliers, averaging 15.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over 38 games.
