After hiring JJ Redick as head coach, the Los Angeles Lakers' offseason plans are starting to take shape.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers are considering adding a veteran center to play alongside Anthony Davis. One potential target is New Orleans Pelicans free agent Jonas Valanciunas, who has been mentioned by NBA figures as a possible frontcourt addition for the Lakers this summer.

Valanciunas, set to become an unrestricted free agent, has shown tremendous consistency during his three-year stint with New Orleans. He missed fewer than 10 games each year and started all 82 games this past season.

Team: New Orleans Pelicans
Position: C
Age: 32
Height: 211 cm
Weight: 120 kg
Birth place: Utena, Lithuania

The 32-year-old Lithuanian averaged 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 2023-24.

No Lithuanian player has ever represented Los Angeles teams. If Valanciunas joined the Lakers, he would be the first Lithuanian to play for the franchise.

Due to his uncertain contract situation and upcoming free agency, the captain of the Lithuanian national team will not participate in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico.
