Magic Johnson has entered the ongoing debate over the greatest basketball player of all time by including Kobe Bryant in the conversation. Johnson praised Bryant's impact and scoring ability, alongside recognizing Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
Magic Johnson, the five-time NBA champion and Los Angeles Lakers legend, introduced Kobe Bryant into the discussion about the greatest basketball player of all time In a recent interview with NH ExperienceTV.
Johnson argued that Bryant's impact on the NBA and global basketball scene is significant enough to be included in this ongoing debate, which typically features Michael Jordan and LeBron James as the primary contenders.
"Kobe belongs in this conversation even today. Kareem and Kobe, both wore purple and gold, so I think about what Bryant meant to global basketball." He said.

Magic emphasized that Bryant’s scoring prowess was comparable to that of Jordan.
"Offensively, he is the second-best shooting guard-small forward, just behind Michael Jordan. In terms of scoring, no one could stop Kobe, just as no one could stop Michael Jordan. Also, in a close game, if I had to choose someone to win it, I would pick one of those two."
Kobe Bryant, who tragically passed away in a helicopter accident in 2020, spent his entire 20-year career with the Lakers.
During this time, he won five NBA championships, earned two regular-season MVP awards, and was selected as an All-Star 18 times.
Additionally, in a recent appearance on 'The Dan Patrick Show,' Johnson addressed whether LeBron James could eventually surpass Jordan.
He suggested that it might require a few more championships for LeBron to achieve that status but emphasized the importance of celebrating both LeBron and Jordan.
"LeBron is special, and I don’t want people to be upset all the time. We need to celebrate both. Michael is the best, and we should honor him and LeBron." Magic concluded.
