Forward Markieff Morris has agreed to return to the Dallas Mavericks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Mavericks, last season's Western Conference champions, prioritized re-signing the 35-year-old veteran. Morris has been a key leader in the locker room as he enters his 14th NBA season.

Morris played 26 games for the Mavs during the 2023-24 season, having joined the team in the trade that brought Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets. Last season, he averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Originally selected 13th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Kansas, Morris has had a well-traveled career, with stints on the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Miami Heat.

Over 13 seasons, he has averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, shooting 44.5% from the field and 34.3% from three-point range in 776 regular-season appearances.

Morris helped the Lakers win the 2020 NBA championship.
