Nikola Mirotic, now with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, is returning to the Palau Blaugrana for the first time since his controversial departure from FC Barcelona in 2023.

As he prepares for the emotional moment, Mirotic expresses his excitement about returning to the venue, despite the change in jersey,

"Well, I feel very excited, first of all, to return to Barcelona and also because I'm playing here again. It's true that this time, I'm coming back with a different shirt, but the excitement is the same.

For me, Palau is special; it has always been magical. I'm going to try to control my emotions because, in the end, I came here for a game, a game that I want to win, so I'm looking forward to stepping foot in Palau again," Mirotic told Mundo Deportivo in an interview.

Reflecting on his time at Barca and the connection he shares with the fans, Mirotic looks back on his successful years with the club. He feels confident that the supporters appreciate his contribution during his time there.

"I hope it's good because people know that I have given everything, that obviously we could have always won more, but I know that while I was here, with other people obviously, I wasn't the only one. Barca has always been at the top, at the top.

Three Final Fours, two leagues, two cups, always playing in finals... I think the fans know that, and above all, I'm left with that farewell to Palau, those last two games against Madrid winning the league. So I expect a happy Palau," Mirotic argued.

After a slow start to the season, Armani Milan has turned things around, improving its performances and even surpassing Barca in the standings. The team's newfound belief in its potential has been a driving force behind this success.

"I think we weren't aware that we are a very good team with a great squad. We needed to believe in ourselves a little more. We had potential and good names but had to believe in ourselves a little more. But when we believed in ourselves more and worked harder when we said enough was enough after losing some games that we should have won... We won a difficult game in Belgrade, and from then on, it was all up," Mirotic noted.

Mirotic is not closing the door to a potential future return to Barca, showing openness to whatever may come.

"In life anything can happen, I keep the door open. Why not? Absolutely. And as I said before, Barca is not a person. I keep the door open for Barca," Mirotic concluded.
