Bartzokas comments on Petrusev departure: 'I didn't want him to leave'

Georgios Bartzokas shared his thoughts about Olympiacos' loss versus Crvena Zvezda yesterday in Beogradska Arena. He also commented the departure of Filip Petrusev from Piraeus.

Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade see themselves up to 8-7 score after beating Olympiacos Piraeus in Belgrade 87-73.

Olympiacos' Head Coach Georgios Bartzokas was trying to explain why did his team lose and how inferior they looked to their opponent during the second half:

"I congratulate Zvezda on the victory, they played great," Bartzokas started.

"They did everything they needed to win. We played the worst night in the Euroleague this season, we need to look in the mirror and realize that we need to do whatever it takes to win at this level."

"We had 17 turnovers, 20 percent three-point shooting, defensively we were more tender than butter. There is no excuse that any of the players were solid. If you have a solid team you play as a team, you lose because of other things."

Bartzokas also commented on Filip Petrusev's departure to Zvezda on loan, adding that he didn't want to allow that:

"I signed him last year from the USA. Of course I didn't want to let him go, he wanted to go. You can't keep someone who doesn't want to stay, he helped us win the Super Cup."

"But we are human beings, we have to work and live in the environment we want. If we had him, it would be a completely different situation, we miss his rebounds, his talent."

"We also have Moustapha Fall and Moses Wright, both of whom are out for other reasons. Sometimes it's about luck, sometimes something else," Bartzokas concluded.
