LA Lakers are likely to keep Markieff Morris for his leadership and Shake Milton for his trade-friendly contract, while Cam Reddish and Alex Len are the most likely candidates to be waived before the playoffs.
The Los Angeles Lakers might be making moves ahead of the postseason, with Cam Reddish and Alex Len likely to be primary candidates to be cut.
That means two veterans -- Shake Milton and Markieff Morris -- are expected to stay with the team for the playoffs.
Morris is likely to remain in Los Angeles due to his leadership and strong relationships within the team, particularly with LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
Meanwhile, Milton's contract, which has two non-guaranteed years remaining, could serve as a valuable trade asset in the summer.
"I would say Markieff Morris is not going to be waived like 99.9%. Shake is maybe somewhere in the 90 to 95% range," Jovan Buha of The Athletic said on his latest podcast. "I'd be pretty surprised because of how valuable that contract is."

Buha also discussed the potential roster changes before the playoffs.
"If the Lakers are going to convert Jordan Goodwin or Trey Jemison or Christian Koloko, I look at Cam Reddish and Alex Len as two of the most likely candidates to be waived," he said. "I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm not saying it's expected to happen. I would make an educated guess that Goodwin is going to be on the Lakers' playoff roster.
"I would be very surprised if he was not on the playoff roster. As to who's waived, I don't have a clear insight into that right now. If I had to handicap it, I would say Reddish is the most likely of the guys, and then Len is a close second."
This season, the 28-year-old Milton has averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 assists per game with Brooklyn and Los Angeles. He joined the LA Lakers in December 2024 as part of the D'Angelo Russell trade.
