The 28-year-old guard spoke about his recent meeting with the Italian national team staff, which left a positive impression on him and strengthened his hopes of joining the team for the upcoming tournament.
"After the game against Brooklyn, I met the coach and the staff of the national team, they made me a really good impression," DiVincenzo said. "It was a very productive meeting, I went along with everyone, including Simone (Fontecchio)."
DiVincenzo believes his chances of playing for Italy at Eurobasket are strong, as he feels that both sides are on the same page.
"Chances of being Eurobasket? I think they're really good, we're all on the same page. For me it'd be great to represent Italy. Now we just need to wait for the documents to arrive," he explained.
Family support plays a key role in DiVincenzo's decision, with his loved ones proud of his choice to represent Italy.
"In my family, they're all proud of my choice, they really hope that this project will realize. Even my girlfriend, who has Italian roots, is pushing in that direction."
While waiting for the necessary paperwork, including his Italian passport, DiVincenzo is focusing on his performance on the court for the remainder of the NBA season.
"I'm extremely happy, again, now we just need to wait for the passport to arrive. My father and my agent are taking care of that, I'll focus on the court and on the final part of the season," he said.
