After parting ways with general manager Monte McNair following a disappointing end to the 2024-25 season, the Sacramento Kings have quickly shifted focus to finding his replacement.

According to league sources, per The Athletic, two names have emerged as frontrunners: Scott Perry and Calvin Booth.

Perry, who previously spent time in Sacramento as vice president of basketball operations in 2017, is considered a strong candidate due to his familiarity with Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and his extensive 25-year resume across the NBA.

Perry has held front office roles with the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Seattle SuperSonics, and Orlando Magic, and worked closely with then-GM Vlade Divac during his brief time with the Kings.

Another candidate receiving serious consideration is former Denver Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth.

Booth, who was recently let go alongside head coach Michael Malone, previously interviewed with the Kings in 2020 before McNair was hired.

While Divac still maintains a presence around the organization, sources confirm he will not return in any official capacity. Meanwhile, the next GM will likely have input on the Kings’ head coaching decision.

Head coach Doug Christie is still in the mix, but hasn’t received any formal assurances.

"None," Christie said when asked if he had been given a guarantee. “But this is where I want to be. You guys know that. I need to finish what I started.”

McNair’s exit ends a five-year run highlighted by the team breaking its 16-year playoff drought, but ultimately marred by roster stagnation and internal disagreements.
