New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson gave heartfelt praise to the medical staff and trainers who helped him recover from an ankle injury, including current Knicks vice president of sports medicine Casey Smith.

Smith previously worked with Brunson during his time with the Dallas Mavericks before being let go by Mavericks GM Nico Harrison.

When asked who played a key role in his recovery, Brunson replied:

Points made: 30,9
Accuracy: 55,8%

"A lot of people. I’ve known Casey since my rookie year—he’s been with me every step of the way, especially the past month. Ty, Shamone, my dad coming back, Coach Joe, even Chico and Anthony. They’ve all helped," Brunson said.

"They’ve sacrificed time with their families, done two-a-days during rehab. I really appreciate them," Brunson added.

"These people have been consistent in my life and dedicated to what they do. They believed in me, and that helped me get back to where I am."

The Knicks took Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons with a 123–112 win. They’ll look to take a commanding 2–0 lead this Monday at Madison Square Garden.
