If the Phoenix Suns hire a "hard-nosed, largely respected" head coach, there's a chance Kevin Durant will stay in Phoenix, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Previously, both ESPN's Shams Charania and Brian Windhorst have reported that the Suns are expected to explore trade options for the 15-time All-Star this summer.

According to Charania, there's a "level of mutual interest" between Durant and the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets, and he advised to "monitor them" closely.

The Suns finished the 2024-25 season with a 36-46 record, missed the playoffs, and fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after just one year.

KD has one year remaining on his four-year, $194.2 million contract. This past regular season, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
