Anthony Davis left the Mavericks play-in game against the Grizzlies limping after re-aggravating a leg injury. Despite scoring 40 points, the Mavericks fell 120-106, ending their season.
Anthony Davis gave everything he had on Friday night, but it still wasn’t enough to save the Dallas Mavericks season.
Battling through visible pain, Davis dropped 40 points in a gritty performance, but the Mavericks fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 120-106 in the Play-In Tournament, ending their playoff hopes.
Davis, who has been dealing with a left adductor strain since shortly after arriving in Dallas via a blockbuster trade for Luka Doncic, appeared to re-aggravate the injury in the second half.

He limped noticeably up and down the court, often grimacing after plays and taking extra time to get back on defense. At one point, he checked out and sat on the bench using a massage gun, but he returned just minutes later and immediately hit a jumper.
His defensive impact was clearly limited, and after Memphis pushed the lead to nearly 20 with about five minutes left, Jason Kidd had no choice but to pull him for good.
Davis finished with 40 points and 9 rebounds on 16-of-29 shooting in 37 minutes, carrying a Mavericks team that struggled to keep up with Memphis energy and pace.
For the Grizzlies, the trio of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane was unstoppable. Ja scored 22 points, grabbed 7 boards and made 9 assists, Bane also scored 22 points, grabbed 5 boards and dished 9 assists, JJJ gathered 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Memphis advances to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
