Free agent guard Dennis Smith Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Smith, 24, averaged 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists in just 37 games (four starts) last season for the Portland Trail Blazers.
He played his last NBA match on February 10, as he was diagnosed with a high-grade partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

Smith was selected No. 9 overall in the 2017 draft by the Dallas Mavericks.
